5W heat pad

The 5W heat pad can be used to add heat to your ant farm. Simply put it partly under the ant farm and regulate the heat as needed with the connected temperature controller. It is quite an efficient way of heating. (More efficient than heating the room or using heating lamps or heating cables.)
In Australia, we normally won’t need extra heating for indigenous ants when kept in our houses. But if you place your ant farm where it could become cold, some extra heating can be advantageous. In nature, ants can crawl deep into the ground to escape from the cold, but in ant farms they can’t do this. Extra heat can also accelerate the breeding. As you might have noticed in nature, ants very often place eggs and pupae under stones in the direct sun to warm them up.
